Knowing local currents, water features and weather conditions is vital, so we highly recommend taking a guided tour. And no matter where you go – be sure to bring your own (waterproof) camera with you!

Southern Norway

Southern Norway is an environment that all rowers dream of. Cozy towns scattered along the coast, wonderful harbors, fishing villages and dazzling archipelagos, consisting of thousands of islands and skerries. The region’s largest city is Kristiansand, while other popular destinations include Arendal, Grimstad, Lillesand, Lindesnes and Mandal.

Fjord region

Going on a guided kayaking tour is perhaps the best way to experience the famous Norwegian fjords. There are many options for both beginners and experienced rowers. Imagine cutting through a fjord like the Sognefjord, the Hardangerfjord or the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord and Nэрrøifjord, lined with majestic mountains. Once in the fjords of the Northwest, you can also go kayaking from island to island or walk the entire fjord to its mouth. There are also many glacial lakes in the Fjord Region that are great for kayaking, but for safety reasons only guided tours are allowed. The Jostedalen Valley, home to the famous Nigardsbreen Glacier, is a great start to your glacial adventure.

Northern Norway

Admiring old fishing villages, secluded islets, rugged coastline, mountain peaks and incredibly photogenic beaches from the water is an experience of a lifetime. There are countless kayaker-friendly destinations on the coast of Northern Norway, such as the Lofoten Islands, the Vesterålen archipelago and Senja Island. The water here is cold and the weather conditions are harsh, so you should only go out on the water with a professional guide.

Helgeland coast

The Helgeland Coast, just south of the Arctic Circle, is one of the finest and most scenic regions in Norway for sea kayaking enthusiasts. Here you will find a beach to your liking, live in a traditional rorbu (fisherman’s house) and appreciate local culinary customs – all in addition to kayaking. Off the coast, wonderful islands such as Dönna, Trena and the UNESCO-listed Vega Archipelago await you.
